We're delighted to announce that we have recently started a free crash course on Topology. It is being delivered by our Co-Founder & Head of Pure Mathematics, Bambordé Baldé.
Why Topology?
Topology is a relatively new branch of pure mathematics compared with the classical branches of pure mathematics such as Algebra & Geometry (see history here). Moreover, the subject gave birth to the emerging field of Topological Data Analysis (TDA). For example, Ayasdi, a VC backed company, was founded by Prof Gunnar Carlsson, one of the pioneers of the field of TDA. Our own privacy-preserving machine learning platform (Zaiku Homology) leverages novel techniques borrowed from Algebraic Topology.
As the name hints, Topology has applications in 'Topological Quantum Computation' (TQC) which is the quantum hardware paradigm being pursued by Microsoft. This contrasts with Google & IBM's pursuit of a Superconducting quantum hardware approach.
Who should attend the course?
Due to the level of mathematical abstraction involved, this crash course is more suitable for people that have been exposed to university level mathematics e.g., Calculus and Real Analysis. The following type of profiles would benefit a lot:
STEM professionals interested in TDA and Geometric Deep Learning.
STEM professionals interested in Quantum Computing, particularly TQC.
Young academic researchers in Theoretical Physics who are interested in pursuing Non-Abelian Gauge Theory.
