Post-Quantum Cryptography Standards + Zaiku Group's Announcements.
Dear friends,
Last week was a historic week in modern cryptography as the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) announced the outcome of its long-awaited post-quantum cryptography (PQC) standardisation proposals (see paper here).
The announcement's importance is that it provides clarity & baseline foundation for companies and government agencies to start thinking about a smooth transition to post-quantum cryptography by considering the risks associated with the existing cryptosystems that are vulnerable to quantum computers.
Of course, no quantum computer exists (yet) to threaten the mainstream cryptographic protocols vulnerable to Shor's quantum algorithm. It's even possible that we'll not have such powerful quantum computers over the coming decades due to the technological challenges of building them! However, it's still worthwhile for companies & government agencies to explore NIST's proposed PQC protocols as a safety net against the so-called 'Store Now-Decrypt Later (SNDL)' attacks whereby adversaries are collecting encrypted data right now from public internet traffic as well as private servers, and storing it until quantum computers capable of running the likes of Shor's are built in the coming decades!
Industry Mentorship for Young Mathematicians:
We're pleased to announce our academia-to-industry mentorship program for PhD-level young pure mathematicians, Homotopic Minds. The program kicked off on June 13! The initiative's primary goal is to help young mathematicians make a smooth transition to the industry by providing; free learning resources on emerging technologies, mentorship and work placement within our parent company Zaiku Group & partnering companies. Do you know a company looking to hire people with solid PhD-level mathematics background? If yes, please share the following Google Form with the relevant talent acquisition people https://forms.gle/nzyFe4MG3ejhb8nN9.
London Geometry and Machine Learning (LOGML): We're proud to be a sponsor of this year's LOGML Summer School. At Zaiku Group, we firmly believe ML can benefit significantly from exploiting advanced branches of modern Geometry.
Many thanks for reading. We look forward to sharing our deep-tech community building journey with you.
